Six prisoners from Azov and Aidar sentenced in Rostov to terms ranging from 12 to 19 years

A Russian military court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced six Ukrainian prisoners of war to 12 to 19 years in a maximum-security colony on charges of “terrorist activity” and service in units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced six captured servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — 30-year-old Timofey Vashchenko and Andriy Zhizhoma, 33-year-old Denis Shelomienko, 36-year-old Sergey Medvedev, and 39-year-old Volodymyr Shulip. All sentences were handed down in April.

Zhyzhoma, Shelomienko, Medvedev and Stanishevsky were tried under articles on participation in a terrorist community and undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.

Tymofii Vashchenko — for participation in a terrorist community through service in the Ukrainian battalion “Azov”.

Volodymyr Shulip, a serviceman of the “Aydar” unit, was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Denys Shelomienko — to 16 years in a strict regime prison.

Volodymyr Shulip and Tymofii Vashchenko were sentenced to 12 years and 19 years in a strict regime colony, respectively.
