Statistics of losses among police officers in the Kherson region for 2024

According to official data, two employees of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Kherson region died in 2024. Inspector of the patrol police response sector Oleksandr Chekhun died at a checkpoint during a drone attack. Senior inspector of the explosives service department Oleksandr Viter died on November 4 during demining after a drone attack by the Russian army.

This was reported by the head of the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region, Andriy Kovany.

According to him, in total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 21 police officers have died in the Kherson region, including employees from other regions. The most common causes of death are drone attacks, artillery shelling, as well as hits during evacuation or performance of official duties.

In addition to human losses, police equipment also suffered significant damage. In 2024, 70 vehicles were damaged, of which 8 were completely destroyed. For example, in the area of ​​​​Bilozerka and Beryslav, strikes on official vehicles were repeatedly recorded, the policeman noted.

“A police officer is a person like everyone else, and we are also mortal. We belong to the Defense Forces of Ukraine, and virtually every police officer in Kherson and the region has become a target for the Russians,” Andriy Kovany explained.
