Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia is almost destroyed, but there are still civilians there

In the front-line Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region, which suffered large-scale destruction due to Russian shelling, civilians still remain, despite constant threats and a difficult humanitarian situation.

According to the head of the settlement military administration Iryna Kondratyuk, there are currently about 28 people in the community. Some of them do not even get in touch with the authorities.

According to her, people are forced to live in basements, escaping from shelling, but at the same time they try to maintain minimal living conditions – in particular, they plant vegetables and use water from wells.

Despite repeated attempts to evacuate, residents refuse to leave their homes. The main reason, they say, is their reluctance to leave the place where they were born and built their lives, even despite the danger.

The situation in the settlement itself remains critical. According to local authorities, about 90% of the housing stock has been destroyed, and high-rise buildings have virtually ceased to exist due to constant strikes by Russian troops.
