Strike in the Sumy region: warehouses storing sulphur-containing substances caught fire

On the outskirts of the Sumy community, after a Russian airstrike on 18 June, warehouses storing remnants of sulphur-containing substances caught fire. According to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Hryhorov, a fire broke out in the warehouses as a result of the attack. Currently, the relevant services are controlling the situation and assure that there is no immediate threat to the population.

At the same time, residents of the Bezdrichka, Verkhniosyrovatka and Krasnopil communities were urged to take precautionary measures. “Experts urge residents to close windows and, if possible, limit time spent outdoors. A smell of sulphur may be noticeable,” Hryhorov said. Laboratory centre staff are working on-site, carrying out necessary air quality measurements and monitoring the situation.
