Strike on Zaporizhzhia: the number of victims and wounded has increased

Zaporizhzhia continues to recover from the consequences of the massive combined strike that Russian troops carried out on May 5, 2026. As of May 6, the figures for the dead and wounded have significantly increased compared to the first reports. The head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, and the State Emergency Service provided updated data on the condition of the wounded and the extent of the damage.

Russian terror claimed the lives of 12 people. The greatest tragedy occurred at one of the locations where the enemy hit a civilian object.

Deaths: 12 people (of which 10 people died at a service station, two more at other locations in the city).

Total number of wounded: 46 people (aged 20 to 66) sought medical help.

Hospitalization: 21 people are in hospitals.

Condition of the injured: 4 patients – in extremely serious condition; 14 patients – in moderate condition.

Rescuers managed to free one person from the rubble, which saved her life. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided emergency assistance to 38 people, including six children and two citizens with limited mobility.

The attack caused critical damage to both the industrial and residential infrastructure of the city.

A large-scale fire broke out on an area of ​​2,500 sq. m. The fire destroyed or damaged more than 20 cars.

The service station extinguished the fire on an area of ​​400 sq. m.

Residential sector: 16 apartment buildings and 12 private houses were damaged.

Social facilities: Student dormitories and non-residential buildings in various districts of the city were destroyed.

More than 70 residents have already filed claims for property damage, 27 of whom are vulnerable.

Emergency and rescue operations are now officially complete. 84 rescuers and 21 units of State Emergency Service equipment were involved in the operation.

Municipal services are currently working at the “arrival” sites: they are closing broken windows in high-rise buildings, removing construction debris, and helping district administration specialists inspect buildings to record damage.

Russia has not observed the ceasefire that Ukraine initiated from 00:00 on May 6. During the night and morning, Russian troops massively attacked Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
