Sumy region is the first region in terms of the number of explosions in July

According to the statistics of the online service alerts.in.ua, in July Sumy region became the first in the number of reports of explosions and the fifth region in terms of duration of alarms.

According to the service, from July 1 to July 31, 2023, 110 air alarms with a total duration of 4 days 6 hours 42 minutes were announced in Sumy region. The average duration of an air alert in July was 53 minutes.

In terms of duration of alarms in July, Sumy region is fifth after Luhansk (484 days 18 hours 35 minutes), Donetsk (9 days 22 hours 36 minutes), Zaporizhzhia (8 days 10 hours 12 minutes), Kharkiv (4 days 17 hours 39 minutes) oblasts.

The longest air alert was announced on July 24 at 10:38 p.m. It lasted 5 hours and 25 minutes.

In terms of the number of reports of explosions in July, Sumy region became the first. Thus, 194 messages were published in mass media. Second after Sumy region in the number of explosions is Donetsk region (163 reports), third is Kherson region (147 reports).

July was busy for the regional center. The city of Sumy was attacked twice by UAVs and was hit by a missile.

On July 3, four “Shahed 136” UAV strikes were recorded in the center of Sumy. As a result of the hit, the administrative building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and two multi-apartment residential buildings were damaged, 3 people died, 21 were injured.

On July 20, in Sumy, enemy shahedis hit the premises of the children’s camp. As a result of this attack, one person was injured.

On July 29, Russia launched a missile attack on the Sumy educational institution, as a result of which 2 people died and 22 were injured.

The attack by “shahedas” on the health camp in Sumy led to environmental damage of almost 246,000

In the middle of the night on July 20 of this year, the troops of the Russian Federation attacked one of the after-school children’s institutions in the city of Sumy with the help of “Shahed” type UAVs. This led to the destruction and further ignition of buildings. In the end, the fire covered more than 1,000 square meters of space.

Specialists of the State Environmental Inspection in the Sumy region calculated the estimated volumes of emissions of pollutants that were released into the environment during the burning of the facility. According to the assessment of eco-inspectors, due to atmospheric air pollution, the state suffered losses in the amount of almost 246 thousand hryvnias.

On August 1, the inspectorate handed over the calculations to the law enforcement agencies to include them in the materials of the pre-trial investigation on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war.

As a result of shelling on August 1,5 buildings, a warehouse and a tractor were damaged in Sumy region

On August 1, the Russians shelled the settlements of the Sumy region. In total, there are 257 parishes.

As a result, 5 private houses, a warehouse of a private enterprise and a tractor were damaged.

Based on these facts, investigators opened criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the Laws and Customs of War.”
