Sumy region under fire: over 2,600 attacks per month, 16 dead

During March, Sumy region was subjected to massive Russian attacks – over 2,600 attacks using various types of weapons were recorded, the Sumy regional military administration reported.

Among them: 495 airstrikes, 472 strikes by drones of the Shahed, Lancet and Molniya types, over 1,000 attacks by FPV drones, more than 200 explosives dropped from UAVs, over 300 artillery and mortar attacks, as well as two rocket strikes.

As a result of Russian attacks, 16 civilians died, including one child. 190 people were injured, including 8 children. 138 private houses, 30 high-rise buildings, as well as educational and healthcare facilities were destroyed.

Despite constant pressure from the Russians, the region continues to work on strengthening resilience and preparing for the next heating season. The government has decided to allocate almost UAH 892 million for the implementation of the Resilience Plan of the Sumy Region.

International support plays an important role: during the month, the region received 10 powerful generators for critical infrastructure and 5 emergency medical vehicles. Negotiations with international partners on further cooperation have also been held.

Special attention is paid to the protection of infrastructure – another 30 km of roads have been additionally equipped with anti-drone protection, work is ongoing. Support for the security and defense forces remains a priority: assistance worth over UAH 82.6 million has been transferred to units, including UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, transport and special equipment. In March, almost 3 thousand Russian UAVs were destroyed and suppressed over the Sumy Region out of about 4,200 detected.
