Targeted terror: Russian UAVs shelled Sumy region three times — civilian objects attacked

On May 12, Russian troops once again carried out a series of drone attacks on the territory of the Sumy community, striking residential areas and critical infrastructure facilities. As a result of the Russian shelling, one person was confirmed dead and at least five were injured.

This was reported by the Sumy City Military Administration.

The first strike was recorded in the morning in one of the Starostynsky districts of the Sumy community. As a result of the attack, private houses and cars of local residents were damaged. There was no information about the victims, but rescuers and emergency services immediately began work on the site.

The second, much more powerful strike was carried out by Russian drones at around 10:30. The target was a company car of one of the critical infrastructure enterprises, which was located on the outskirts of the city of Sumy. As a result of this shelling, one person died, and three others were injured to varying degrees.

For the third time in a day, a drone strike was recorded in the afternoon, this time on the Stetskivskyi starostat. A local civilian was injured as a result of the attack.

The Sumy city military administration emphasizes that the Russians are purposefully striking at objects that have no relation to military infrastructure, continuing the tactics of terrorizing the civilian population and destabilizing the region.

Currently, specialized services are working at the sites of all attacks, recording the consequences of the shelling and providing assistance to the victims is ongoing.

Russian troops regularly carry out attacks with kamikaze drones and guided munitions on the border regions of Ukraine. Sumy region remains one of the most vulnerable regions due to its close proximity to the state border.

During the day from May 11 to 12, Sumy region again came under massive shelling by Russian troops. 33 settlements in 12 territorial communities came under fire. In total, almost 90 attacks using various types of weapons were recorded. Unfortunately, there were casualties among the civilian population.
