As a result of daily bombing and shelling of civilian infrastructure, Russia has damaged or destroyed 1,772 medical facilities in Ukraine since the beginning of the large-scale war.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine informs about this.
In particular, the agency noted that 1,564 medical facilities were damaged and another 208 were completely destroyed.
“We are talking about hospitals, dispensaries, polyclinics, maternity hospitals, etc. Medical facilities in Kharkiv Region, Donetsk Region, Mykolaiv Region, Kyiv Region, Chernihiv Region, Dnipropetrovsk Region, Kherson Region and Zaporizhzhia suffered the greatest losses. It is currently impossible to obtain comprehensive information on the degree of destruction of medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories,” said the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Also, during this time, the Russian army destroyed 260 emergency medical vehicles, damaged 149, and captured another 125.
At the same time, despite constant attacks and shelling from Russia, work continues in Ukraine to restore the medical infrastructure in order to ensure unimpeded access of every patient to quality and necessary medical care. Thus, the Ministry of Health together with its partners managed to fully restore 512 medical facilities, another 358 have been partially rebuilt or are in the process of being restored.
“These are medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage, such as broken windows, destruction of the roof, damage to the facade, etc. In particular, the largest number of restored medical facilities are in Mykolaiv Region, Dnipro Region, Kyiv Region, Kharkiv Region and Chernihiv Region,” the department noted.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine emphasized that work on the restoration of the Ukrainian medical infrastructure will continue.
In addition, the agency reminded that recently the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported on the restoration of the units of the Nikopol District Center of Primary Medical (medical and sanitary) aid in Dnipropetrovsk Region, which were damaged during another shelling of the region by the Russians in the first year of the large-scale war.
