The body of a man who died at the hands of Russians was exhumed in the Kherson region. During the temporary occupation of the city, a native of Kherson was tortured to death in one of the Russian torture chambers.
As reported by the press services of the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, proceedings have been initiated for the murder of a civilian man under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.” The guilty face life imprisonment.
So far, the investigation has established that the deceased was captured by the Russian penal authorities in the spring of 2022. The man was illegally detained in one of the Kherson buildings, which the Russian military turned into a torture chamber.
For two weeks, the prisoner was mercilessly tortured, he died as a result of the injuries received during the torture. This was confirmed by a preliminary examination of the deceased’s body – signs of numerous injuries were found in him, in particular, rib fractures.
Currently, the exhumed body of the deceased has been handed over to specialists for forensic examination.
According to the prosecutor’s office, there may be other victims of the Russian military at the place where the body of the tortured Kherson man was found.
