The consequences of shelling Liman in Donetsk region: the number of victims has increased

Over the last day, ten civilians were killed in Donetsk region, and another 13 people were injured due to shelling by the Russian army. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kirylenko, on July 9: “On July 8, the Russians killed ten residents of Donetsk region: nine in Lyman and one in Avdiivka. Another 13 people were injured in the last day,” he emphasized.

In general, since the beginning of the military invasion of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk region, 1,606 civilians have died, and 3,822 have been injured. It is important to note that these figures do not include Mariupol and Volnovakha, where the exact number of victims has not yet been established.

Rescuers came under Russian fire in Donetsk region

The leadership of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office has started a pre-trial investigation into cases related to violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), which occurred during artillery shelling by the occupiers in the cities of Avdiyivka and Gostre in Donetsk region.

According to the investigation, on July 10, 2023, at around 2:40 p.m., Russian troops opened fire on the private sector of the village of Gostre, Pokrovsky District. This shelling resulted in the death of a local resident and the wounding of three men, including a father and son. All victims received the necessary medical assistance.

Also, around 15:00, the Russian occupation forces shelled the town of Avdiyivka, where one man who was in his house was killed as a result of the shelling.

According to preliminary data, the Russian Federation used artillery during the attack on these settlements. Private houses and farm buildings were damaged.

Prosecutors are making every possible effort to document war crimes committed by representatives of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
