This was announced in Kharkiv by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Ruslan Strelets.
According to the minister, as of July 11, 1,436 cases were registered in the Kharkiv region among all 5,298 cases of Russian ecocide in Ukraine.
“469 billion hryvnias is such an amount of damage to the environment of the region. The amount of damage to the environment from the “Epicenter” attack alone is 860 million hryvnias. The burning of this facility for a day and a half significantly worsened the situation around the cell. With this explosion, the workers released a large amount of dangerous substances into the air, because this supermarket sold paints, varnishes, solvents, etc. This is an invisible threat that will be felt not only by Ukrainians, but also by the whole world,” the minister emphasized.
Also, the attack by Shaheeds on an oil depot in Kharkiv had dire consequences for the environment. Here, the amount of damage to the environment reaches UAH 192 million. When extinguishing fires at facilities such as oil depots and hardware stores, pollutants are released into water and soil along with foam.
“It is important to modernize the methods of calculating damage to environmental components at the expense of chemical pollution as a result of missile attacks of the Russian Federation and to introduce changes in the legislation regarding the inspection of high-risk objects for the presence of plans for localization and liquidation of emergency situations and accidents. The old plans worked in peacetime, not during constant “arrivals” of missiles. This area needs updating,” Ruslan Strelets emphasized.
