During the period of the occupation of Crimea, 31 people are considered missing, about whom there is no information, 18 of them are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
According to human rights activists, the following are considered missing in the occupied Crimea: Abduramanov Rizvan, Aliyev Arsen, Aliyev Server, Alyautdinov Marcel, Apselyamov Eskender, Aripov Shevket, Arislanov Mukhtar, Arsen Suyunov, Batyrov Marat, Bondarets Ivan, Vashchuk Valeriy, Ganiev Ruslan, Grischenkov Sergey, Dzhepparov Islyam, Dubushchak Andriy (military serviceman), Zinedin Seyran, Ibragimov Ervin, Islyamov Dzhevdet, Ismailova Susanna, Kaplienko Maksym, Klapova Kateryna, Kobzar Anatoly, Kostenko Fedir, Mangubi Sakha, Platonov Oleg, Polyukh Natalia, Soliev Farkhad, Terekhov Arlen, Chernysh Vasyl, Shaimardanov Timur, Shevketov Marlen.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center noted that the Kremlin-controlled Crimean “authorities” only create the appearance of investigating these cases, despite the fact that, in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/71/205, Russia is called an occupying power and is responsible for respecting human rights in this territory.
Human rights activists noted that the international community has repeatedly been informed about these blatant facts of human rights violations at international forums such as the UN, OSCE, and PACE. “We condemn the arrests, detentions, and kidnappings of people that are used in Crimea as a means of pressure and intimidation of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and pro-Ukrainian activists,” they noted.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center emphasized the importance of timely and widespread information about cases of kidnappings in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
“Dissemination of reliable information in the first hours after a disappearance can be critically important, as it increases the chances of a prompt response, mobilization of the human rights community, pressure on the occupation administration, and can even save a person’s life. That is why it is extremely important not to remain silent, report such cases, and join the publicity. This is not only a manifestation of solidarity, but also a real tool of influence,” the human rights activists added.
