The forces of the Russian Federation again damaged the power line at the Zaporizhzhia NPP

As a result of Russian shelling, one of the two power transmission lines supplying the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been damaged again, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.

“Today, October 21, at 12:18 p.m., due to systematic Russian shelling, one of the two power transmission lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP with the unified energy system of Ukraine was disconnected,” the message reads.

It is noted that “currently, the ZNPP is connected to the Ukrainian power system by only one power transmission line. If this line is also damaged, another complete blackout will occur at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which poses a threat to radiation safety.”

In September, Energoatom reported another flight of the Shahed attack drone, launched by Russia, at a critically low altitude near the industrial site of the Rivne NPP.

The territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is periodically shelled, for which Ukraine and Russia blame each other. The Ukrainian authorities also stated that the Russian army used the nuclear power plant to store military equipment and deploy its servicemen.
