There are two large areas of destruction in Cherkasy as a result of the missile attack by the Russian army on July 24. About 15 high-rise buildings were also damaged. Seven people are known to have been injured, including one child.
The missiles with which the Russian army attacked Cherkasy were loaded with shrapnel, said the head of the regional military administration, Igor Taburets.
“We have two areas of falling debris from missiles in the city. Previously, these were Iskander-K missiles. The infrastructure that was damaged was exclusively civilian infrastructure. There were large fires there.
The missiles with which the Russian army attacked Cherkasy had shrapnel in them, the official explained:
“That is, this is an extremely impressive force from the explosion. The spread of such fragments, namely such shrapnel, is up to a kilometer.”
In addition, according to Taburets, about 15 high-rise buildings were damaged:
“The windows were broken, the roofs were damaged. And, accordingly, there are many victims precisely as a result of such explosions. We see that the missiles that were used contained shrapnel.”
According to the head of the regional military administration, seven people were injured as a result of the explosions in Cherkasy, among them a child:
“All are slightly injured, three of them were taken to the hospital directly for assistance. They are not in danger. We also have one nine-year-old child who was injured from broken windows and doors.”
Another place where the fragments fell is the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”.
“There is their administrative building and three utility buildings. In that area, nine high-rise buildings suffered significant damage to windows, balconies and roofs. Now all services are working on the spot, the fires have been extinguished. The Red Cross is working, the emergency services are working and, of course, investigative task forces are collecting all the necessary information and documenting the consequences of this attack.” Dozens of cars were also damaged in one of the city’s parking lots, they caught fire due to falling debris, noted Ihor Taburets. “The smoke was heavy, but it was quickly eliminated by our rescuers. We can record that the security situation in the city is absolutely normal and there is no need to make any additional requests. Work is underway to eliminate the situation, the main thing is to document all the damage, to contact the relevant city commissions. In the near future, we will know the exact information about the damaged windows, doors, structures, garages, cars, that is, everything that was damaged as a result of the fall of these two cruise missiles.”
