In Donetsk region, in Avdiivka, the infrastructure has already been destroyed by 100%. For almost a year, there is not a single surviving building in the city.
Vitaly Barabash, the head of the Avdiiv City Military Administration, told Eastern Variant about this in an exclusive comment: “You know, the infrastructure has already been 100% destroyed. Everything will definitely have to be rebuilt here. It’s hard to say about the housing stock. There hasn’t been a single surviving building in the city for almost a year. Many of these buildings have already been hit not once, not twice, not three times. Let’s say, the percentage of destruction is approaching 90-95 %. That’s for sure.”
Regarding the environmental situation in the city after the shelling by the occupiers of the Avdiiv coke plant on September 28, the head of the city’s military administration says:
“It is difficult to even assess what it really is. Firstly, of course, there is indeed harm and danger from petroleum products. The problem is that no one can assess this impact. The plant was burning, there were emissions into the atmosphere, of course, this is a harm. More likely , something burned, something went into the ground. But the problem is that no one is taking these samples for analysis, and it is impossible to assess this danger now. Primarily because of safety issues, because no one will come there to measure the air quality, take samples. Of course, which definitely did not get better from this shelling.”
