The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine counted the number of cultural infrastructure objects destroyed by the war

It was not possible to count some of the affected objects, because some territories are under temporary occupation.

The full-scale war in Ukraine since February 24, 2022 caused colossal damage not only to the economy and population of the country, but also negatively affected the cultural component.

On October 9, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy published statistics on the objects of cultural infrastructure destroyed as a result of the military actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Most often, club establishments suffer from shelling and attacks, according to the department’s announcement on its official website. Of the total number of such establishments, 49% are considered affected.

841 clubs and 601 libraries across the country were destroyed or damaged. Also, 131 art education institutions, 99 museums and 30 theaters with philharmonics were damaged by enemy attacks.

Experts recorded the greatest damage in seven regions of the country:

Donetsk — 82%;

Sumy — 53%;

Kharkiv — 52%;

Chernihiv — 46%;

Kherson — 43%;

Luhansk — 42%;

Mykolaiv — 42%;

Zaporizhzhia — 36%;

Kyiv — 26%;

Dnipropetrovsk — 19%;

Zhytomyr — 12%;

Odesa — 8%;

Khmelnytskуі— 8%;

Cherkassy — 5%;

Lviv — 4%;

Vinnytsia — 3%;

Zakarpattia — 2%;

Poltava — 2%.
