Under the procedural leadership of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the fact of committing war crimes (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the press service of the department reported.
Currently, 74 injured people are known, 13 of them are minors, the Sumy City Council reported.
“According to the investigation, on March 24, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m. local time, a missile strike was carried out, according to preliminary data, on a densely populated residential area of the city of Sumy. As a result of the Russian attack, a number of apartment buildings and an educational institution were damaged,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of the attack.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of violating Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy region.
