The rescuers of the Kharkiv region extinguished fires that arose as a result of Russian shelling

During the day from October 1 to 2, 2023, rescuers went out 43 times to extinguish fires, 4 of which were caused by Russian shelling.

As reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, 4 fires caused by enemy shelling were recorded in the Kharkiv region during the day.

Around 09:00, the Russians began shelling the territory of an abandoned agricultural enterprise located in the village of Borova, Izyum district. As a result of the shelling, the fire engulfed the roof and structures of the defunct warehouse building. The area of the fire was approximately 1,800 square meters. To extinguish the fire, 4 units of fire-rescue equipment and 20 rescuers from the State Emergency Service were involved. At 1:15 p.m., the fire was extinguished. According to preliminary data, no victims or victims have been identified as a result of this incident.

In the city of Vovchansk at 16:57 rescuers of the 47th state fire and rescue squad left to extinguish a fire of dry grass, which was ignited by enemy shells in an open area. The area of the fire was 2 hectares. The fire was extinguished at 18:45.

Around 11:30 p.m., the Russians struck the village of Kupyansk-Vuzlovy. The fires occurred on the territory of 2 neighboring private houses. An outbuilding and a residential building were on fire. The total burning area was 140 square meters. At 01:10, rescuers of the 44th and 14th state fire and rescue localized the fire and at 02:10 extinguished the fire.

On October 2, at 00:16, the rescuers of the 60th state fire and rescue squad from the village of Borova and their colleagues from the Luhansk region left for the village of Pidlyman, which also came under fire. There, a two-story residential building, 2 garages and a summer kitchen were occupied in a private yard. By the time of the arrival of the units of the State Emergency Service, the fire had managed to cover an area of 800 square meters. It was managed to be subdued at 04:45. There are no casualties.

In total, during the day from October 1 to 2, 2023, the rescuers of the Kharkiv Garrison of the State Emergency Service made 51 operational trips, of which:

43 – to eliminate fires, 4 of which were caused by enemy shelling;

2 – rotation;

3 – assistance to the population and communal services;

3 – other departures.

28 of the 43 fires that occurred during the day started in natural ecosystems. 1 of them was caused by enemy shelling, the rest by people disregarding fire safety rules or intentionally burning dead trees. During the day, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service removed and neutralized 3 units of explosive objects.
