Russians shelled Kharkiv region and Sumy region: one woman died, one was wounded

On August 17, the Russian military shelled settlements in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

The Russians struck the Chuguyiv and Kupyan districts of the Kharkiv region. In the city of Kupyansk, a private house, outbuildings and a garage were destroyed. As a result of shelling, a 61-year-old woman died, a 60-year-old resident of Kharkiv region was injured.

Private houses were damaged in the city of Vovchansk and the village of Vovchanski Khutory.

Under the procedural leadership of the Kupyansk and Chuguyivsk district prosecutor’s offices of the Kharkiv region, pre-trial investigations into violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) have been launched. This was reported in the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, on August 18, around 11:00 a.m., the Russian military once again shelled the city of Kupyansk. Residential buildings and commercial buildings were damaged.

As a result of the shelling on August 17, private homes were destroyed in the city of Vovchansk and the village of Vovchanski Khutory.

Prosecutors and police investigators take all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the Russian Armed Forces.

Chernihiv region and Sumy region

Russian shelling of the border of Chernihiv region and Sumy region: 62 explosions rang out on August 17

On August 17, Russian troops shelled the border territories of Chernihiv and Sumy regions 10 times (62 explosions).

This was reported by the “North” operational command.

Three border communities of the Chernihiv region came under fire from the Russian Federation.

In the Semenivska community:

• Karpovichi — 3 ridges, probably an 82 mm mortar;
• Leonivka — 6 parishes, probably a 120 mm mortar;
• Oleksandrivka — 8 parishes, probably a 120 mm mortar.

In the Novgorod-Siversk community:

• Vilchyki — 20 parishes, probably barrel artillery;
• Mykolaivske — 3 districts, probably barrel artillery.

Nine explosions, probably a 120 mm mortar, were heard in Yeline settlement of the Snov community.

Russian troops shelled the border areas of Chernihiv region: 49 explosions were reported

The Russian military continues to shell the border territories of the Chernihiv region. In total, during August 17, 49 explosions from various types of weapons were counted.

Fortunately, information about the dead or wounded among the local population has not been recorded.

Two districts of Sumy region were shelled by mortars:

• In the settlement of Boyaro-Lezhachi, Konotopsky district — 9 parishes, probably a 120 mm mortar;
• In the village of Seredyna-Buda, Shostkinsky District — 4 rounds, probably a 120 mm mortar.

Fortunately, information about the dead or wounded among the local population has not been recorded.

During August 17, Sumyshchyna was hit about 120 times. As a result of the shelling, 2 households, a garage, a bathhouse, a shed, an electric power line were damaged, and dry grass caught fire.
