Dozens of people were injured as a result of the Russian missile attack on Pavlograd and the Pavlograd district of Dnipropetrovsk region. Significant destruction was recorded. The Armed Forces say they shot down 15 out of 18 missiles launched by the Russian Federation over Ukraine.
As a result of the missile attack of the Russian troops carried out on the night of Monday, May 1, a series of explosions was recorded in Pavlograd and Pavlograd district of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
As the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak, said, the troops of the “East” air command managed to shoot down seven Russian cruise missiles: “But there are also hits. It hit the Pavlograd district. Previously, 25 people were injured. Three of them were children. An industrial enterprise was damaged in Pavlograd. There was a fire there, which the rescuers have already put out. In the residential area, 19 high-rise buildings, 25 private houses, 6 schools and preschool education institutions, 5 shops were damaged. There is also destruction in the communities of the district. In Verbkivska – almost 40 residential buildings were destroyed, in Yuryivska – 2. In Mezhiritskaya – a school was damaged.”
Attack from the Murmansk Region and the Caspian Sea
Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhnyi, disclosed the details of the night attack by the Russians. According to his data, the missile attack was carried out by strategic aviation planes – nine Tu-95s from the Olenegorsk region in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation and two Tu-160s from the Caspian Sea region.
“A total of 18 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-based cruise missiles were launched. 15 were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Valery Zaluzhny clarified.
The third missile attack in less than a week
The current attack was the third missile strike by Russian forces in less than a week.
Mykolaiv, Dnipro and Uman were destroyed during previous rocket attacks. In Uman alone, more than 20 people died as a result of a Russian cruise missile hitting a high-rise building.
