The Russian Federation carried out an airstrike on the front-line Orikhov, apartments on two floors burned in a high-rise building, one person died

On August 1, Russian troops carried out another airstrike on the front-line town of Orikhov, Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the press center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on August 2: “As a result of an airstrike in one of the five-story buildings, apartments from the first to the second floor with a total area of 200 m² were on fire. Unfortunately, one person died. Emergency personnel extinguished the fire.”

As a result of the Russian attack, the mobile crane of the rescuers, which was involved in liquidation of the consequences of previous shelling on the infrastructure object and which was at a distance of 150 m from the epicenter of the explosion, was damaged.

“The personnel of the units of the State Emergency Service were not injured, as they were in shelter,” the message reads.

On the morning of August 2, emergency and rescue operations continued in Orihiv.

After a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian troops seized part of the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region. On February 26, 2022, after battles with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians entered the 150,000-strong Melitopol.

The Russians could not take the regional center of Zaporizhzhia. Therefore, they decided to make Melitopol the “capital” of the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region and held a pseudo-referendum there on the “accession” of the region to the Russian Federation.

The Russians regularly shell Ukrainian-controlled settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In Melitopol, the Russians intensified searches: they are advised not to communicate with relatives in Ukraine

The Russians once again stepped up and began to actively carry out filtering and arrange door-to-door rounds in the Temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.

This was reported by the chairman of Melitopol, Ivana Fedorova.

According to local residents, a “clean-up” was organized the other day in one of Melitopol’s districts. It is known that the Russians conducted house searches, forced residents to tell about all their relatives living in the territory controlled by Ukraine and “recommended” residents not to communicate with relatives in Ukraine.
