The occupation administration of the Zaporizhzhia region takes children to Chuvashia under the pretext of recreation
The occupation administration of the temporarily captured districts of the Zaporizhzhia region takes children to the Russian Federation, allegedly for vacation. This is reported by the Center of National Resistance. About 300 children are to be taken to the Chuvash Republic.
“As you know, the Russians do not return the children after their removal, under the guise of martial law in the region, which was imposed on the temporarily occupied areas by the international criminal Vladimir Putin last fall,” – the Center of National Resistance is told.
At the same time, the Russians blocked the departure of residents of the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region to Ukraine. Thus, the enemy uses children as hostages to force their parents to leave after them.
The opposition reminds that the abduction of children for their further assimilation is a sign of the genocide of a nation, as it is aimed at destroying the nation’s self-identity. All those who help or facilitate the removal of children are punished precisely for crimes against humanity.
What is known about the deportation of children to the Russian Federation
On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the Commissioner for Children in the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova. The ICJ’s decision is related to the war crimes of Putin and Lvova-Belova. They are suspected of illegally deporting the Ukrainian population, including children.
On May 24, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that Ukraine is investigating the possible role of Belarus in the forcible deportation of children from the temporarily occupied territories.
In May, ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that there was evidence of Belarus’ involvement in the illegal deportation of children to the Russian Federation.
On May 29, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, spoke at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on the issue of Russia’s abduction of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine. The ombudsman said that the Russian Federation is deliberately changing the legislation to make it impossible for Ukrainian children to return to their homeland, and for this purpose is using, among other things, the forced change of their citizenship to Russian. He noted that Russia does not provide any data on Ukrainian deported children, it is not even known where they are and under what conditions.
According to the human rights representative of the Verkhovna Rada, as of the end of May, Ukraine knows about 24,000 Ukrainians who went missing during Russia’s armed aggression, including children.
Mykola Kuleba, former representative of the President of Ukraine on children’s rights, founder of the “Save Ukraine” Foundation, emphasized that the occupiers are abducting and forcibly deporting our children.
Subsequently, Lubinets stated that the Russians use child labor and militarize children in the temporarily occupied territories.
Russian troops are also exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the temporarily occupied territory in order to persuade parents to take passports for their children in exchange for “social payments”.
The Russian authorities are trying to shift the world’s attention from the deportation of children by creating a commission to investigate “crimes by the Ukrainian authorities” against minors since 2014.
