At the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Russians do not comply with safety regulations, in particular, they do not carry out full repairs. Currently, the condition of the station’s equipment is unknown.
Oleg Korikov, head of the State Nuclear Regulation Inspection, announced this.
“Today, the detailed technical condition of the equipment and safety systems at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is not known in detail. We are talking about pipelines, machines, mechanisms, pumping equipment,” said Oleg Korikov.
According to him, the Russian Federation does not carry out repairs and maintenance in the appropriate volumes, and also does not comply with safety regulations.
The head of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine emphasized that Energoatom and the IAEA do not receive information from the radiation monitoring system at the ZNPP online. He noted that the entire system includes 18 monitoring stations, 4 of which are disabled.
“This reduces our ability to control radiation conditions at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the surrounding area,” emphasized the head of the State Inspectorate of Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine.
