A 60-year-old Ukrainian, an employee of a private cargo handling company, died. On the evening of October 7, the Russians attacked Odessa with ballistic missiles.
Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa regional military administration, said that one person was killed. “Port infrastructure became the goal of the Russian Federation. The Russians hit a Palau-flagged civilian ship with a ballistic missile. A 60-year-old Ukrainian, an employee of a private cargo handling company, died,” the head of the regional military administration said. Five more foreign citizens were injured. Four of them are in medium severity, one is mild. They are currently receiving the necessary medical assistance.
Oleksiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, emphasized that in two days the Russian Federation attacked the second civilian ship that was in the ports of Odesa. He also reported that the OPTIMA vessel was damaged today. “On October 7, the ship arrived for loading. However, in a few hours it became a target of the Russian Federation.
In two days, the Russians damaged two ships that were supposed to take cargo from Ukraine. This is a purposeful practice of intimidation and hindering the work of the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Oleksiy Kuleba, the Russians are again trying to destroy shipping in the Black Sea and undermine Ukrainian efforts to guarantee food security. “The consequence of this can only be an increase in instability in sensitive regions of the world that depend on food imports, and unrest in international relations,” the vice-prime minister added.
