The Russians completely destroyed 203 medical facilities in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 200 Ukrainian medical facilities have been destroyed. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine informed about this on March 11.

“During the full-scale war in Ukraine, as a result of constant shelling and bombing of civilian infrastructure, Russia damaged or destroyed 1,740 medical facilities. In particular, 1,537 of them were damaged, and 203 were completely destroyed. These are Ukrainian dispensaries, polyclinics, maternity hospitals, etc.,” they note. in the message.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine stated that medical facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions suffered the greatest damage, but information on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories is currently incomplete.

“Despite numerous challenges and the burden on the medical system, in Ukraine they are working on the restoration of the medical infrastructure. As of the beginning of March 2024, it was possible to fully restore 509 medical facilities, another 357 have been partially rebuilt or are in the process of being restored. We note that primarily we are talking about medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that suffered minor damage, such as broken windows, destruction of the roof, damage to the facade, etc.,” the department explained.
