The Russians confessed to the shelling of residential buildings in Mariupol

The Russians do not miss an opportunity to talk about the alleged crimes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Mariupol at the beginning of a full-scale war. Recently, the Russian recalled how the Defense Forces fired tanks at a residential building. This was reported in the press service of the Mariupol City Council.

The department noted that the Russians tried to make a propaganda video about the crimes of the Ukrainian military, but showed the truth. In the video, one of the soldiers of the Russian army tells how tanks with the letter “Z” drove into the yards of local residents and shot directly at houses, but they turned out to be tanks of the Russian Armed Forces.

“No Russian propaganda can hide the truth about the crimes of the Russians. The people of Mariupol remember who brought death and destruction to their city,” says the website of the city council.

According to the norms of international humanitarian law, the parties to the conflict are obliged to protect the civilian population and not to use it as a human shield. Placing military equipment in residential areas is a violation of these norms.

It should be noted that in May 2022, after an almost three-month siege and bloody battles, Mariupol was occupied by Russian troops.
