On the night of September 3, the Russians again attacked Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
If 33 million tons of grain were exported from Odesa by sea in 2022, then the Danube ports could theoretically handle up to 20 million tons (6-7 million tons in reality). And after the planned expansion, theoretically, the volume could even reach 30 million tons.
On the night of September 3, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with several waves of kamikaze drones. A total of 25 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones were released. Air defense forces shot down 22 of them. But three – flew to one of the ports. According to local media reports, the port of Reni was hit. A fire broke out there, two people were injured.
As reported by the Romanian publication Viața Liberă, residents of the Romanian city of Galaţi reported a “hell of noise”.
“The Ministry of National Defense strongly declares that these attacks aimed at civilian objects and infrastructure in Ukraine are unjustified and deeply contradict the norms of international humanitarian law,” the Romanian military said.
On the night of September 4, the Russians launched Shahed attack drones over Odesa, 17 of which shot down the air defense forces, but there were hits.
In several settlements of the Izmail region, warehouses and production buildings, agricultural machinery and equipment of industrial enterprises were damaged.
As it became known later, during the mass attack, the Russian “Shahedy” fell and detonated on the territory of Romania. It happened in the area of Izmail port. The border units, which were on duty in that direction, recorded the detonation of two enemy UAVs on the Romanian side.
The Odesa Regional Military Administration specified that warehouse and production buildings, agricultural machinery and equipment of industrial enterprises were damaged in several settlements of the Izmail district. Also, several fires broke out on the territory of civilian objects due to debris falling as a result of the crash. As of 7:00 a.m., the fire was extinguished. There were no reports of casualties.
