The Russians continue to steal both works of art and grain crops from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In addition, they destroy not only the infrastructure of Ukraine, but also destroy nature, implementing a policy of ecocide on the territory of Ukraine.

The Russians stole three paintings by Aivazovskyі from the Kherson museum

In 2022, the Russians looted the Kherson Regional Art Museum under the guise of “evacuation”. Oleksiy Shevkunenko. Among the stolen works of art are three paintings by Ivan Aivazovskyі, the representative of the museum reports.

Russians consider Ivan Aivazovskyі a “great Russian artist” because he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Also, the Russians steal his works from the museums of the occupied cities.

During the so-called “evacuation”, which in fact was a robbery, the Russians took out trucks with works of art for several days and looted one of the best collections in Ukraine. Some of the works were later identified by museum staff — the Russians took them to the Tavrida Central Museum in Simferopol.

The Russians are planning to send stolen grain from the Zaporizhzhia region to Africa

Russians in the temporarily occupied territories continue to steal Ukrainian grain. The Russian authorities want to send him to Africa from the Zaporizhzhia region.

This was announced by the chairman of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov.

They steal to sell later

According to him, the Russian leadership is looting the occupied territories and making good money from it.

“At first, they simply stole Ukrainian grain, passed it off as their own, and reported unprecedented harvests in Russia. Then they announced that they were allegedly buying grain from the occupation, although in fact they were setting grain prices below cost. So, they are still stealing,” he wrote.

“Benefactors” of the Russian Federation

Russia wants to show that the grain exported from our country is, as it were, “help” to Africa.

“Stealing and profiting from deaths is what Erefia knows best. However, we will return our own. And let our grain become gnawed across the throats,” Fedorov emphasized.

Drones scare birds, rockets injure dolphins: how massive shelling of Odesa affects nature

Last week, Odesa and the region came under massive shelling from the Russians. They hit the coast with drones and missiles of various types.

The bodies of dolphins, which have no physical damage from fishing nets, continue to be thrown ashore, says the head of the research department of the National Nature Park “Tuzlivski Lymani”, doctor of biological sciences, professor Ivan Rusev. The biologist calls the noise threat the most likely reason for the death of animals. Because of the powerful blast waves, the inhabitants of the sea receive concussions.

“They are injured and will reproduce very slowly. For example, a bottlenose dolphin gives birth to a baby once every 3 years, and this will happen once every 5-6 years. They die from bombing or detonation of mines. By the way, several mines have already been detonated in recent days, and this has a great impact on Black Sea cetaceans,” says Rusev.

Strike drones are attacking Odesa, and reconnaissance drones are also flying into the region along with them. All these flying machines scare the birds.

“We heard how many drones were flying three days ago, they are scaring the birds. Now there are many birds that gather in large flocks, especially on the coast of the Black Sea, where there are many herons and waders, which fly, by the way, from the land of orcs. There are waders, which are called ripples, they fly from the tundra, and now there are tens of thousands on the seashore. When there are shots, powerful bombardments, they get scared and disappear from the places where they always feed,” says Ivan Rusev.

Death of plants

In addition to animals, war has a negative effect on plant diversity. Some species may disappear because there is a risk of the growth of invasive plants that actively spread and can lead to the death of others.

“There are a lot of heavy metals where these rockets fall. We still don’t know what will happen next, which invasive plants (those that spread and pose a threat to other species — ed.) will grow quickly, that will still be ahead,” the biologist explains.

Consequences of blowing up the Kakhovskaya HPP dam

Ivan Rusev says that the nature of the coastal regions has not yet fully recovered after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam. Despite the fact that the sea has already partially cleared in almost two months, the consequences of the flooding of large areas will still be felt. And constant shelling only worsens the situation.

“At first, around three weeks after the detonation, there was a very strong negative impact on nature in the Odesa Bay. You could see satellite images from space showing massive blooms of phytoplankton, a sign that there was fresh water and very warm sea water. But now, for example, in our part of the Black Sea, between the Danube and the Dniester, the water is very clean. It can be said that those oil products and chemical pollution that were in the Dnipro water, due to biofilters, mussels and other shells, due to other biological objects of the Black Sea remained at the bottom or in the plankton. Through food chains, they will also affect the Black Sea ecosystem as a whole. And some years later, we will find out that the number of one or another species has fallen,” says Ivan Rusev.

Specialists cannot assess the exact scale of the impact of the war on the nature of the coast, because part of the areas of the natural park “Tuzlivski Lymany” are closed for security reasons.
