The greatest losses were suffered by cultural infrastructure in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk regions.
According to the calculations of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, 2,156 cultural infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed due to Russian aggression. 382 of them, or 18%, were completely destroyed.
The greatest losses and damages since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine were suffered by cultural infrastructure in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk regions.
The largest group of damaged cultural infrastructure facilities are clubs (48.3% of the total number of cultural infrastructure facilities that were destroyed and damaged).
In total, 1,042 club facilities were damaged; 770 libraries; 165 art education institutions; 120 museums and galleries; 39 theaters, cinemas and philharmonics; 7 nature reserves; 9 parks and zoos; 4 circuses.
Clubs, libraries, museums, theaters in 300 territorial communities of the country (20.4% of all territorial communities in Ukraine) were destroyed.
“As of the end of December 2024, almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of the territories of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson regions are under temporary occupation, which makes it impossible to accurately calculate the number of cultural institutions that suffered as a result of hostilities and occupation,” the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine said in a statement.
