Every day, the situation in the village of Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia region, worsens. The Russians do not stop hitting with artillery, “hail”, uses drones of various modifications, strikes with guided aerial bombs have become more frequent. Local residents are exhausted and scared, so evacuation is the best way for them to save their own lives.
This is reported by the National Police of the Zaporizhzhia Region.
Not every day, the territory of the Stepnohorsk United Territorial Community is under the sights of the Russian Federation. For example, on May 20, a 64-year-old local resident was killed as a result of shelling of the village, and the other day the Russians hit the village with guided aerial bombs.
“One of them hit a building in which people were staying, the other fell nearby. As a result, three people were injured, three floors of the building were completely destroyed, and high-rise buildings around were damaged,” Denis Dyatlov, head of police department No. 1 of the Vasylivskyi district police department, told about the consequences of the shots.
No less losses and sufferings are experienced by the local people after shelling from MLRS, tanks or artillery.
“People are already so tired of constant enemy attacks that now the fear for their own lives prevails over the fear of leaving home. Previously, we persuaded citizens to evacuate, but in most cases we received an answer like “how can I go, I have a house, garden, animals.” Now, people themselves turn to us for help, because they understand that for their own safety it would be better to go to calmer settlements and save their lives,” says Nataliya Shyshkova, a police officer of the evacuation group.
Changes in the situation are argued by numbers – since the beginning of the work of the police evacuation group, it was possible to evacuate almost 200 people from the front-line village, among them – elderly people and citizens with reduced mobility.
The police team has been carrying out the evacuation for more than a year. Recently, another elderly couple was taken out of Stepnohirsk near the front, who did not dare to take this step for a long time. For her own reasons, the woman did not want to show her face, but she shared off camera: “My husband and I are very tired here, we want peace and quiet, at least for a little while. We thank the police for helping us.”
Evacuation of the population from front-line settlements continues. The police of the Zaporizhzhia region urges residents of the region not to risk their lives and to evacuate to a safe area.
