The Russians hit the port infrastructure facility in Odesa: Humenyuk spoke about the consequences

On the night of January 1, the Russians attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa region with kamikaze drones. A fire broke out at the facility, but it was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured.

Natalya Gumenyuk, head of the United Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, told about it. According to her, on New Year’s Eve, more than 50 “shaheed” flew through the southern regions of the country.

“A very powerful attack on the city of a million people began at half past twelve at night, when people were preparing to welcome the New Year,” she said.

Just then Odessa was hit, houses burned down and a person died due to falling debris. Humenyuk emphasized that Russian drones flew over residential areas, between high-rise buildings. In addition to the houses of Odessa residents, the port infrastructure in the region was once again under the sights of the Russian invaders.

“Unfortunately, one of these facilities was hit, a fire broke out there, but it was quickly extinguished, no one was injured,” added the spokeswoman of the Southern Defense Forces.

She noted that in their area of responsibility, according to preliminary information, about half a hundred kamikaze drones of the Shahed-136/131 type were recorded. Combat work of air defense continued for almost 11 hours in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Vinnytsia regions.

“There are shootings everywhere. The absolute majority in Odesa — about three dozen drones have been shot down. But even a shot down drone is dangerous,” Humeniuk concluded.

Debris of drones destroyed at low altitude reached the ground, created a powerful explosive wave that led to damage to objects and fires.
