On the afternoon of August 18, Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region. On August 18, around 12:20 a.m., a series of explosions rang out in Zaporizhzhia. The Zaporozhians heard about 3-4 loud sounds.
This was reported by the chairman of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Yuriy Malashko: “The Russians launched a missile attack on one of the districts of the regional center. The scale of the destruction and the number of victims are being clarified.”
According to Anatoly Kurtev, secretary of the Zaporizhia City Council, apartment and balcony windows and windows on stairwells in three high-rise buildings were blown away by the blast wave: “Two educational institutions received minor damage. Specialists of the district administration and “Zaporizhremservice” are conducting an examination to determine the extent of damage to the houses and to carry out work to eliminate the consequences of the impact.”
Russian troops shelled the Zaporizhzhia region 79 times on August 17, said the head of the regional military administration Yuriy Malashko.
He noted that the Russians carried out 64 artillery barrages on the territory of Gulyaipol, Novoandriyivka, Malynyvka, Poltavka, Zatyshshi, Kamianskyi, Plavniv, Stepovoy and other villages near the front.
Six airstrikes were recorded on Komyshuvas, Orikhov, and Malia Tokmachka, five shellings from MLRS on Novodarivka, and four UAV attacks on Zaliznychne, Charivne, and Pyatikhatki.
22 residential buildings, commercial buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged. There were no casualties as a result of the shelling.
The Russians hit an educational institution in Komyshuvas: there are wounded
On the night of Friday, August 18, Russian troops released two guided aerial bombs on Komyshuvas, Zaporizhzhia region. The attack destroyed the educational institution. This was announced on August 18 by the head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, Yury Malashko: “At night, the Russians sneakily struck Komyshuvas. Two hits by guided aerial bombs hit the residential quarter.”
As a result of the strike, a local educational institution was destroyed.
Nearby residential buildings were damaged by the blast wave and debris: facades were gutted, windows were broken.
The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration did not say anything about the victims. He only clarified that specialists record the consequences of destruction and help in their elimination.
People continue to disappear in Melitopol and other temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Friends of one of the residents of Kyrylivka, Melitopol district, say that their friend was abducted by FSB officers.
It is about 47-year-old Serhiу Volodymyrovych Chumachenko. He lived in the urban-type village of Kyrylivka on Zeleniya Street in one of the guest houses.
Serhiy is registered in Zaporizhzhia, on Lobanovskyi Street.
In Kyrylivka, he worked at a recreation center for four years: in the summer – as a security guard, in the winter – as a watchman.
According to preliminary data, he disappeared on August 11, 2023. FSB officers took him away from the sports ground near the house.
