During the evacuation of wounded residents of the city of Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region, the White Angel police crew came under fire from the Russian invaders. The National Police reported this on May 11 and published a corresponding video.
The Russian projectiles hit 100 meters from the car, where at that moment law enforcement officers were helping local residents. The policemen were not confused and quickly took people out from under the fire.
According to the police, some residents evacuate only when they are injured. In particular, employees of the White Angel unit tried several times to take out a 60-year-old woman, but she refused.
During another Russian attack, the citizen miraculously survived, but suffered shrapnel wounds. Shells hit her house, completely destroying it.
“You were born in a shirt,” the policeman told the woman.
Another survivor is a 68-year-old man who was walking to the store when the Russians opened fire on the residential area. The man was wounded in the arm by shrapnel. The police took him to the hospital.
In addition, the police reported that as of 14:00 on May 11, 970 civilians from Tsyrkunivska, Lypetska and Vovchanska territorial communities of Kharkiv region were taken to safe places.
Police evacuation crews are working in extremely difficult conditions, because the Russians have significantly increased the bombing of the frontline areas.
The situation in the Krasnohorivka region
On May 4, the Russians announced for the second time about the seizure of the Krasnogorsk Refractory Plant. In response, the spokesman of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, Nazar Voloshyn, said that the Russians at the plant are under fire control of the Ukrainian military.
Voloshyn said that the Russians stormed Krasnohorivka in small groups, but the Defense Forces did not allow them to enter the city, firing artillery and mortars.
On May 6, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that the main strike forces of the Russian invaders are currently concentrated in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhiv directions. The Russians are trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses and reach Kurakhovo and Pokrovsk.
On May 8, Voloshyn stated that the Russians once again broke into Krasnohorivka of the Donetsk region and “squatted” on the territory of the plant, but the Defense Forces blocked them.
On May 9, an officer of the Yakov Handziuk 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, Serhiy Tsehotsky, stated that Krasnohorivka is under the full control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, adding that there are no “gray zones” there.
