On June 3, at about 9 a.m., the Russians struck Sumy with long-range MLRS. As a result of the strike, there were 4 dead and many injured.
The spokesman for the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Sumy region, Oleg Strelka, spoke about the consequences of the Russian attack on Hromadske Radio.
“The situation is constantly changing. The number of injured and dead is changing. According to our information, there are currently 28 people injured, three of whom are children. Emergency and recovery work is still ongoing. Rescuers have to work simultaneously in five different locations,” said Oleg Strelka.
He recalled that the first hit during the morning Russian attack occurred on the roadway: “Two vehicles caught fire there at once. Other cars of civilians in the Sumy region were badly damaged by shrapnel.”
“People were walking on the street at that moment. This is a part of Sumy where there are both cinemas and educational institutions. Therefore, they hit exactly where the largest number of people are,” emphasized the spokesman for the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Sumy region.
In addition, a 9-story building was hit, said Oleg Strelka: “The roof was pierced there. There were also unexploded remains of an explosive device. And our services had to work there. Both to evacuate people and to remove all the remains of the Russian shell.”
Also, according to the spokesman, both a private residential building and an infrastructure facility were hit: “We are still working to carry out restoration work.”
Earlier it became known that the number of people killed as a result of the Russian attack on Sumy has increased to four. This was reported by the Sumy regional military administration.
It is noted that a 43-year-old man died in the hospital, who was in extremely serious condition. His 7-year-old daughter is seriously injured, doctors are fighting for her life.
