The humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied territories of the left bank of the Dnieper, in particular in the Oleshkivska urban territorial community, remains difficult and is worsening every day.
Tetyana Hasanenko, head of the Oleshkiv city military administration, says: “As of today, the situation is simply catastrophic. I cannot find the word that would fully describe what is happening now on the territory of the Oleshkiv Territorial Community. There is no electricity, gas, water. The city is constantly under shelling, drones are constantly flying, shelling leads to the destruction of markets and shops. Especially in Oleshki. Some villages of the community no longer exist on the map at all,” said Tetyana Hasanenko.
Speaking about the situation in the Oleshkiv Territorial Community, Hasanenko added: “Civilians are dying all the time. We are trying to keep records of people who died precisely as a result of shelling, that is, those who were injured by mine-explosive injuries. So, for 2023, we received data that 213 people were injured, of which 160 were wounded, 53 were killed.”
Russian troops hide behind civilians and use civilian infrastructure facilities in Oleshki for military purposes. In particular, in 2023, it was known that the Russians had placed a mortar on the territory of school No. 2, located in the very center of the city.
From the end of March, serious problems with electricity, water and gas supply began in other cities of the region: Kakhovka and Novaya Kakhovka. Also, according to the Kakhovka city military administration, the Russian military is shelling the peaceful infrastructure of the city: “For the second week, the Russians have not stopped shelling the peaceful infrastructure of Kakhovka. Buildings of civilians are being destroyed, there are wounded and dead. A high-rise building in the city center has just been damaged by a Russian projectile. The roof and several apartments were destroyed. The projectile did not explode, a guard has been set up at the entrance.”
