The UN has named the number of victims of Ukrainian civilians due to Russian shelling

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to January 9, 2023, at least 6,952 civilians have died in Ukraine. This is stated on the UN website.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said another 11,144 were injured. In the first week of 2023, 34 deaths and 101 injuries were recorded.

The actual death toll is much higher, as there is a delay in receiving information from some places where intense fighting continues. Also, many messages still require confirmation. This applies, for example, to the settlements of Mariupol, Izyum, Lysychansk, Popasna, and Severodonetsk, where, according to reports, there have been numerous cases of the death or injury of civilians.

It is noted that most of the casualties among civilians were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a large area of damage. It was also about shelling from heavy artillery and multiple rocket systems, as well as missile and air strikes.

The body of the British volunteer who went missing in Soledar was found by the “Wagners”

On January 11, a telegram channel linked to the owner of Wagner’s private military company reported that the company’s fighters had allegedly found the body of one of the missing British volunteers. And he had two documents with him.

That is, there is a high probability that it was the “Wagners” who killed a volunteer, or even two…

Earlier, it was officially reported that the National Police is looking for two British volunteers who disappeared on January 6 near Soledar, Donetsk region.

As stated in the message of the National Police, on January 7 at around 5:15 p.m., the regular part of the Bakhmut district police department received a report about the disappearance of two volunteers – citizens of Great Britain, aged 28 and 48.

“It is known that the day before, January 6, at eight o’clock in the morning, Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Perry left Kramatorsk for Soledar, and contact with them was lost,” the message states.

The Russians in Mariupol demolished the historical monument of 1902 – the “house with a clock”

In Mariupol, the occupiers demolished 38 buildings and destroyed historical monuments.

“House with a clock” is a historical monument. It was erected back in 1902. The house survived the German occupation, but did not survive when the Russians came to the city.

More correctly, “House with a clock” survived, but the other day, under the guise of reconstruction, the Russian invaders completely destroyed it. This was reported by Petro Andryushchenko, adviser to the Mariupol chairman.

According to him, the “Clock House” suffered the same fate as the Mariupol Drama Theater. Everything is for dismantling. Because everything is the history of Ukraine.

“From the beginning of the dismantling, the occupiers shouted that this is not demolition, but reconstruction. Here it is – reconstruction from the occupiers. To zero. This is how excavators destroy the entire true history of Mariupol after the bombs,” Petro Andryushchenko wrote.

The workshop itself is a monument of world monumental art. The house was built in 1902 by order of the great Mariupol real estate magnate Gavriil Hof. After his death, the house was inherited by Gough’s niece Anna.

The house survived the German occupation and stood when German soldiers burned down the center of Mariupol. The workshop of the famous Ukrainian artist Viktor Arnautov was located here. The artist created panels for the subway and the World Library in San Francisco, taught at Stanford and worked with the Mexican monumentalist Diego Rivera.

In 1963, after retirement and the death of his wife, Arnautov returned to Mariupol. In his hometown, he created three works, the most famous of which is “Conquerors of Space”. This mosaic is located on the Communications Building, which is also under threat of demolition.

Mortality increased fivefold in occupied Severodonetsk – Luhansk Regional Military Administration

The invaders completely captured Severodonetsk at the end of June 2022.

The Russian occupiers are trying to hide information about the number of dead civilians in the Luhansk region.

This was announced by the head of the regional military administration, Serhii Gaidai.

“The occupiers are trying to make sure that this information does not get out anywhere at all, how many people are dying. But we spoke with doctors who recorded and summed up the deaths in the city of Severodonetsk. They say that recently the number of dying civilians has increased fivefold, – Gaidai said. – Here it may simply be the lack of critical infrastructure, that is, people simply freeze. There is also the factor that… hospitals do not work normally and do not provide any medical services to civilians.”

At the beginning of December 2022, the city hall of Severodonetsk reported that there was no heating and almost no electricity in the city.

On June 25, 2022, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had organized an organized withdrawal from Severodonetsk and the occupiers had completely captured the city.

Since October 5, the Russian Federation believes that they have officially “joined” the Luhansk region to Russia. Neither Ukraine nor the international community recognized such a decision.

On October 28, Gaidai reported that the Armed Forces were advancing one to three kilometers in the region every day. As of December 4, 13 settlements were deoccupied in Luhansk region, he noted.

During the last week of 2022, the Ukrainian military advanced up to 2.5 km in the direction of Kreminnaya, Oleksiy Gromov, deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed on December 29.

The head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that the fiercest battles in the region continue in the direction of Kreminnaya and Svatovo, where the Russians are transferring reserves from other directions.

Electric transport has been completely destroyed in Luhansk region

Luhansk region became the only region of Ukraine where electric transport was completely destroyed, blogger Denys Kazansky reported on his Facebook page.

According to him, the trams in Luhansk were destroyed back in 2014. And now they have finished the last trolleybus that survived in Luhansk region – in occupied Krasnodon. There were no hostilities in this city. Electric transport destroyed the “Russian world”.

Until 2022, trolleybuses will feel quite good in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Luhansk region, — writes Kazanskyi. New cars were purchased in Severodonetsk, in addition, plans were announced to open trolleybus routes between Lysychansk, Severodonetsk and Rubizhny in 2021. But after Putin began to “save Donbas”, these cities actually ceased to exist. Thus, Russia completely destroyed such an achievement of civilization as electric transport in the Luhansk region.

In Luhansk region, Russians are forcing Ukrainian bank applications to be removed from phones

In the Luhansk region, the Russian invaders demand that the residents of the temporarily captured towns and villages delete Ukrainian banking applications from their phones.

This is reported by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

The invaders want to limit the use of the hryvnia among local residents as much as possible, so they have strengthened the police-administrative regime: they conduct raids and check phones at checkpoints.

“These measures are increasingly ineffective, so the occupation administrations decided to extract at least some benefit for themselves. Now, during phone checks, people are being asked to delete the applications of Ukrainian banks, in particular, Oschadbank, Privatbank and Monobank,” the message reads.

In the hospitals of captured cities and villages, there are not enough places even for Russian military personnel, not to mention civilians. “The wounded will continue to arrive, so as of January 9, 100 additional beds have been deployed at the Markivka local hospital. Meanwhile, in Luhansk, even the assembly hall was remodeled in the building of the regional hospital to meet the needs of the Russians who fell ill from the bullets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Even the corridors are occupied by the wounded,” the regional military administration noted.

In order to treat them, the Russians bring doctors from different regions of the Russian Federation, the regional administration emphasized.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by invaders near Stelmakhivka and Kreminnaya, Luhansk region. In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy shelled the Stelmakhivka area. On the Lymanskyi direction, Makiivka, Ploshanka, Nevske, Chervopopivka, Kreminna, Kuzmine and Dibrova came under Russian fire.
