“The war began with theft”: Lukashenko made a scandalous statement about Ukraine
The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made a new scandalous statement about Ukraine. The Belarusian dictator tried to shift the blame for the war started by Russia. According to him, the armed conflict was allegedly the result of corruption and embezzlement of state resources in Ukraine.
Lukashenko made such a statement, reflecting on the need to fight corruption among Belarusian officials. As an example, he mentioned Ukraine and linked the beginning of Russian aggression with the internal problems of the Ukrainian state.
“Believe me, the war in Ukraine did not begin with any problems, but with theft, with corruption. When they lied, took – the country was rich, they filled their pockets. And they reached the war, they did not divide it,” Lukashenko said.
At the same time, in his statement, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus did not mention either the decision of the Russian leadership to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, or the Kremlin’s responsibility for the outbreak of the war.
