The OSCE regards this as an attack on the inalienable human right to education
Since February 24, 2022, as a result of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, at least 3,045 educational institutions have been bombed or shelled. These are the indicators contained in the EU statement regarding the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which was made public on Thursday, January 26, during the meeting of the Permanent Council of the OSCE in Vienna.
“The EU strongly condemns all attacks on education and expects that all children and youth will be guaranteed the right to education in Ukraine,” the document says.
As you know, information about attacks on educational institutions comes almost every week from different parts of Ukraine. This applies to kindergartens, schools, colleges and universities located near the front line, as well as in the deep rear. Many institutions were damaged in the cities that were occupied by the invaders.
As of September 1, 2022, there were 15,297 schools in Ukraine, of which 13,881 were located in the territories controlled by Ukraine. Of this number, 1,889 schools were located at a distance of no more than 40 km from the border or the war zone.
The Russians are preparing a new “filtration” wave in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by the Center of National Resistance on January 26.
“The occupiers are preparing for a new mass check of residents of the Kharkiv and Kherson regions for ‘loyalty,'” the message said.
It is specified that, in particular, a large-scale check of phones is planned for the presence of Ukrainian applications (in particular, banks and online education). In addition, the Russians are increasing the number of roadblocks between populated areas in the south.
It is noted that at checkpoints, residents are asked about the presence of military records, ownership of vehicles, addresses of personal accounts in social networks, with further verification.
“Therefore, the Center of National Resistance urges you to be careful and leave the region if possible. Also, clear your browser history and unsubscribe from Ukrainian Telegram channels before going out,” the message reads.
The occupiers put pressure on representatives of all faiths in the temporarily occupied territories. In particular, the enemy closes churches of various Protestant denominations.
This was reported by the Center of National Resistance.
“The occupiers took the building of the Church of the Evangelical Christians in Melitopol. Although the occupiers initially issued the pastor with permits, later they simply seized the premises and took the keys,” the message reads.
The Center of National Resistance notes that there are almost no functioning Protestant churches left in the city, because most of them were expropriated by the occupiers for their own needs. It is noted that the situation is similar in other captured settlements.
Previously, the Russians began to engage in the “integration” of churches in the temporarily occupied territories. The occupiers launched a corresponding program “to assist religious organizations in their integration into the Russian socio-cultural space.” It is carried out by the public organization “Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom”, which is financed by grants from the President of the Russian Federation.
“In fact, the organization is engaged in auditing the property of other denominations in order to further destroy all Protestant movements, the local Orthodox Church of Ukraine and Muslim centers that are not under the control of the spiritual administration of the Muslims of the Russian Federation. Moscow has already implemented a similar policy in Crimea at the time,” they added at the end.
The occupation “administration” of the Zaporizhzhia region formed a list of those who will be responsible for the legalization of looting.
In the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region, the Russians stopped paying “social benefits” and left people without money.
