Three adults and a child received explosive injuries in Kharkiv Region during the week

During the week from June 19 to 26, four civilians, including a child, were injured by explosive objects.

This was reported by Yevhena Vasylenko, the spokesperson of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region.

On June 19, as a result of the explosion of an unknown dangerous object, a 52-year-old resident of the city of Izyum received a shrapnel injury to the head and left leg. According to preliminary information, the man was doing household chores in the yard and lit a fire in which an unknown device detonated. On the same day, a 32-year-old man was injured by the detonation of an anti-personnel mine near the village of Oskil, Izyum district, and was hospitalized in a local hospital.

On June 23, a 73-year-old man received multiple injuries to his body and hands as a result of an anti-personnel mine explosion in the village of Artemivka of the Pecheneg community.

— A man, being in the forest, picked up an anti-personnel mine “Petal”, which detonated. He was hospitalized with multiple injuries, Yevhen Vasylenko notes. On June 24, a seven-year-old boy from the city of Pivdenne was injured. According to preliminary information, the child was playing with a live cartridge and threw it against the wall, as a result of which the detonation occurred and the boy was injured. He is currently in the Kharkiv Regional Children’s Hospital.

In total, during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, 198 civilians were blown up with explosive devices. 38 people died, 160 were injured of various degrees. The largest number of accidents related to ammunition occurred in the Izyum district, in particular in Balaklia and Izyum. According to the information of the head office of the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region, most people are detonated by “Pelyustki” mines, and if they travel by transport, then the largest number of detonations are by TM-62 anti-tank mines.

In addition, over the past week, units of the Kharkiv Garrison of the State Emergency Service made 178 trips, of which 88 were for firefighting. 12 fires were related to enemy shelling. During the fires, 3 people died, 1 person was injured.

Over the course of a week, the sappers of the State Emergency Service discovered and neutralized 640 munitions. They continue to work in the de-occupied territories, go to demining power lines, as well as the private sector, says Yevhen Vasylenko.

Currently, there are 33 pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service, 169 sappers and 66 units of equipment working in Kharkiv region. During the week, 3,120 hectares of territories, 2,012 kilometers of power lines were examined, and 71,738 explosive objects were discovered.

Also, over the past week, two people died at water facilities in the Kharkiv region. The first event occurred in the city of Merefa, where a man born in 1991 drowned in a local pond. The second case occurred in the Osnovyansky District of Kharkiv. Here, a man born in 1997 died at the reservoir.

We would like to appeal to all residents of the city of Kharkiv and the region not to neglect safety rules during recreation on water bodies, to rest only on beaches and recreation areas that are adapted for this purpose, – warns the spokesman of the Main Department of Emergency Situations in the Kharkiv region.
