Three attacks since the beginning of the day: Russians target rescuers in Ukraine, there is a casualty

Russian troops target Ukrainian rescuers. Since the beginning of the day on January 23, the Russians have attacked employees of the State Emergency Situations Service three times: in Kharkiv, Nikopol and in the Kherson region.

This was reported to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. It is noted that one firefighter was injured as a result of the shelling.

The service clarified that in Kharkiv the Russians targeted the fire department during a rocket attack. The building was damaged, fortunately there were no casualties.

In the Kherson region, the Russians dropped ammunition from a drone on rescuers who were working at the scene of the fire. As a result of the attack, the commander of the Department of Emergency Situations was injured. He is currently in the hospital. A tank truck was also damaged by the explosion.

A Russian drone attacked employees of the State Emergency Service in Nikopol as well. The impact was on the territory of the fire department, as a result of which the official car caught fire, and the windows in the room were damaged. There were no casualties.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russian troops have destroyed 1,518 medical facilities in Ukraine

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Russian forces have caused significant damage to the country’s medical infrastructure, destroying and damaging more than 1,500 facilities, including hospitals and ambulances.

Since the beginning of full-scale military operations, Russian military forces have caused significant damage to Ukrainian medical infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, as of the end of January 2024, hostile actions resulted in damage to 1,518 medical facilities, of which 195 were completely destroyed.

In addition, Russian troops attacked vehicles providing emergency medical assistance. In particular, 103 ambulances were damaged, 258 cars were destroyed and 125 cars were seized.

Fortunately, some medical facilities managed to be restored. In particular, 480 objects were fully restored, and another 372 were partially restored. Restoration took place mainly in the de-occupied territories and in institutions that suffered less damage.

Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions are among the regions where the largest number of restorations took place. For example, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a hospital damaged by Russian shelling in the first year of the war was restored.
