In the Zaporizhzhia region, a court sentenced three residents of the Berdyansk district who collaborated with Russian structures. According to the Russian investigation, in August 2023, a resident of the village of Stulneve Valery Chumak voluntarily joined the work of the so-called “election commission” created by the occupiers. He was engaged in the preparation of the polling station, agitation of the population, participated in house-to-house visits together with the Russian military and counting votes during the pseudo-elections.
Another defendant, Oleksiy Marchenko, took up a position in an illegally created law enforcement agency in Chernihivka back in 2022, becoming a senior logistics support group in the Russian-controlled “police”.
By a verdict of the Vilnyanskyi District Court of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Chumaka was sentenced to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. Marchenko received 13 years in prison, as well as a ban on holding positions in law enforcement agencies, state authorities, and local governments for a period of 15 years.
A separate sentence was handed down to Viktoria Burieva, a resident of the village of Novooleksiivka. According to the investigation, in the summer of 2022, she agreed to head an educational institution created by the occupation authorities on the basis of a local gymnasium. The woman organized the educational process according to Russian standards and introduced an appropriate assessment system.
The court sentenced her to 3 years in prison with a subsequent ban on working in the field of education for 15 years.
