Currently, under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor’s office, the police are conducting the necessary investigative actions regarding the proper documentation of crimes committed by Russian servicemen. Witnesses and the number of victims, the identity of the torturers are being established. The pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings opened pursuant to Part 1 of Art. 438 (Violation of laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

At the end of February 2022, about 330 thousand people lived in Kherson, now the population of the city has decreased to 50-60 thousand, that is, less than 20% of pre-war residents remain.
