Two civilians died as a result of a drone attack on the building of the Poltava regional territorial center for recruitment and social support on July 3. According to updated data, the victims were a student from one of the local higher education institutions and a demobilized military man who accidentally found themselves near the epicenter of the explosion.
The number of injured after the air attack is growing and is already approaching three dozen. People continue to seek medical care. Among the injured are both military and civilians, as well as a police officer. Six people are in serious condition, the nature of the injuries varies: from fractures and shrapnel wounds to amputations of fingers. All victims are provided with the necessary medical care.
Acting Head of the Poltava regional military administration Volodymyr Kohut reported that at 1:40 p.m. rescue units completed the elimination of the main consequences of the Russian attack. At this time, municipal workers are clearing the surrounding area of debris and garbage.
Residents of neighboring buildings have already begun to receive building materials provided by charitable organizations to repair the damage.
Secretary of the Poltava City Council Kateryna Yamshchykova noted that as of 2:30 p.m., damage was recorded to 32 real estate objects. In particular, 14 apartment buildings, 9 private households, 2 educational institutions and 6 shops and kiosks were damaged. Six roofs and 158 windows in various buildings were also damaged.
Both victims were civilians who happened to be near the building at the time of the attack. One of them was a student at a local university, the other was a former soldier demobilized from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
