Two unique objects were damaged in the Svatyiv district due to the war

Work is underway to preserve and protect the cultural heritage sites of the Svatyiv district. As of today, there are 115 monuments in the district included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine of local importance. These are 77 archaeological monuments, 21 architectural monuments and 17 historical monuments.

This was reported by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

“Unfortunately, the war also caused damage to these unique objects. It is known about the damage to two monuments of cultural heritage: the St. Nicholas and Feodosia (Petro-Paul) Church in the village of Karmazynivka, Kolomyichysk community, where more than half of the building was destroyed, including the bell tower, dome and entrance gate, and the Peter and Paul Church in the village of Makiivka, Krasnorychensk community, which lost at least 30% of its architectural value – the bell tower, dome, roof, altar and entrance gate were damaged,” the regional military administration said.

The military administrations are also trying to preserve the intangible heritage of the communities of the Svativ region. Thus, three elements of the intangible cultural heritage of the region have already been included in the National List, namely: “Traditional craft of beekeeping in the Svativ district of Luhansk region” (Svativ community), “The ritual of braiding a wedding braid in the village of Bilokurakyn” (Bilokurakyn community), “The ritual of “Chasing vipers”” (Nyzhneduvan community). Accordingly, these elements have also been included in the regional register of intangible cultural heritage. There are also such elements of the communities of the Svativ region: “Wedding rite of baking the Kostenko-Kushnarev family’s ryska” (Troitska community), “Authentic songs of the village of Tsiluikovo” (Bilokurakynska community), “Pavlivskyi cabbage soup with fish” (Bilokurakynska community), “Tradition of making the bread product “Stulnyk” in the village of Miluvatka, Svativ district.”
