Ukrainian border guards warned Lukashenko
A dictator must understand the consequences of entering the war.
Ukrainian military personnel have not detected any buildup of strike forces near the border in Belarus. Kyiv, however, believes that Russia continues to pressure Minsk, seeking more active Belarusian participation in the war against Ukraine. According to Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine, units of the State Border Service and the General Staff of Ukraine are monitoring the situation on the border with Belarus. They also note that there is no buildup of any strike forces in the direction of the Ukrainian border on Belarusian territory. However, Russia continues to pressure Belarus to more actively join the war against Ukraine.
He also noted that during the full-scale war, Ukraine has significantly strengthened its border with Belarus. This includes engineering structures, fortifications, and minefields in areas considered most dangerous by the Ukrainian side. “Belarus must understand and see what we’re doing, that we don’t pose a threat to Belarus. But if Belarus suddenly decides to join the war on its own, it must understand what it will be up against,” said a representative of the State Border Service.
At the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russian troops used Belarusian territory to advance on Ukraine. Subsequently, Lukashenko also provided Russia with territory and infrastructure for military purposes.
