“Whole families died.” In the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, the search was completed after the Russian missile attack, dozens of body fragments were found

Rescuers and police have completed search and rescue operations at the sites of Russian shelling in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region. This was reported in the press service of the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region on the evening of January 8.

Searches at the sites of private residential buildings destroyed by shelling in the city of Pokrovsk and the village of Rivne lasted more than two days. Employees of the State Emergency Service dismantled more than 115 tons of debris. Dogs were involved in the search for people in the ruins.

Rescuers managed to save one person from under the rubble. They also found the bodies of three dead people, including one child.

“At the site of the destroyed houses, search and rescue operations were carried out to identify eight more people, four of them children… More than half a hundred fragments of the bodies of the deceased were found and handed over for identification, of which two people have already been identified. “Due to a significant drop in air temperature and hardening of the soil, it is impossible to carry out further inspection by dogs of the shelling sites in order to identify dead persons, the work has been completed,” the message reads.

According to the regional office of the National Police and the Donetsk regional military administration, the search team found approximately 100 body fragments. The police managed to identify five victims. The three dead from the village of Rivne were identified – a three-year-old girl, her father and mother, 32 and 30 years old. A 34-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were identified in Pokrovsk.

“Investigators examine the found fragments, forensic scientists remove biological samples. Then, with the help of the ANDE 6C genetic analyzer, they carry out identification of individuals. This is a complex process that requires a certain amount of time… Previously, as a result of the Russian attack, entire families were killed by 11 people,” – says police reports.

The head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Vadym Filashkin, also added that, according to preliminary information, the number of victims of the attack has not changed since the last reports: 11 dead and 10 wounded. The final figures will be established after the appropriate examination.

On January 6, the Russians fired eight rockets at the Pokrovsky district, the regional prosecutor’s office reported. According to the regional military administration, the Russians hit with S-300 missiles. The regional military administration reported the death of 11 people, including five children, in Pokrovsk and Rivne.
