Russian troops continue to use the Zaporizhzhia NPP as a cover for attacks on Ukrainian territories on the opposite bank of the Dnieper.
New cases of Russian military positions in the area a few kilometers south of the Zaporizhzhia NPP have been recorded. It was from there, from the territory protected by the status of a nuclear facility, that the Russians launched strike drones on Nikopol.
The mission noted that such tactics have become regular. Russia is deliberately using the proximity to the nuclear plant to cover its strikes, violating international norms. This creates a real threat of a nuclear disaster.
Of particular concern is the systematic nature of such actions. Around the ZNPP, the Russians are deploying military equipment, launching drones, and effectively turning the territory of the station into a combat zone. At the same time, the possible consequences, which could be catastrophic, are completely ignored.
According to the IAEA, explosions, shelling, and drone flights are regularly recorded on and near the station. This indicates that the militarization of the ZNPP is not accidental, but a conscious policy of the Russian authorities.
Ukraine has called on the international community to respond to such actions. The mission asks to increase pressure on Russia to stop using the nuclear facility for military purposes.
