On Tuesday, September 23, at 16:56, the last power transmission line through which Zaporizhzhia NPP received power from the Ukrainian power system was disconnected.
Due to the complete blackout, the Zaporizhzhia NPP switched to powering its own needs from diesel generators. This is a serious violation of the conditions of normal operation of the plant and threatens the development of an accident.
“The presence of the Zaporizhzhia NPP under illegitimate management poses a threat to the nuclear and radiation safety of the largest nuclear facility in Europe. Their irresponsible actions can have catastrophic consequences for the entire world.
The plant must be returned to the control of its only legitimate operator, Energoatom, as soon as possible in order to prevent a radiation and nuclear disaster,” — Energoatom NNEGC reported.
