38 people were injured in the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia on April 22, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
Law enforcement officers have opened a criminal case into a war crime that resulted in the death of a person.
“According to the investigation, on April 22, 2025, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on the infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary information, a 55-year-old woman was killed and 38 more people were injured, including 7 children,” the report says.
The agency adds that the strike damaged the upper floors of a high-rise building, windows were broken in the surrounding buildings and balconies were damaged. Other infrastructure facilities and cars parked nearby were also damaged.
The head of the Zaporizhzhia region, Ivan Fedorov, previously reported 22 wounded in the city. He also specified the data on the wounded children:
“Boys aged 16, 14, 4 and 3 are currently in hospital. Doctors assess their condition as moderate. The children are being provided with all necessary assistance.”
Earlier, it was reported that one person had died and 15 were injured.
The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – strike UAVs, missiles, guided aerial bombs, MLRS.
The Russian leadership denies that the Russian army, during a full-scale war, is carrying out targeted attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.
The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these attacks as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are targeted in nature.
